A new journey starts with the light breeze in the clear autumn. On September 1st, the students of the Grade 2022 from all over China came to ZUEL with their infinite longing for the new life at the university. All the staff and volunteers of the SBA for the orientation gave an enthusiastic welcome to the freshmen.
At 5:30 in the morning, the staff and volunteers of the SBA for the orientation set off from ZUEL at the Nanhu Campus and took a school bus to the orientation site at the Shouyi Campus for orientation. After arriving at the Shouyi campus, the staff and volunteers quickly got to work from carrying materials to placing welcome items, making the preparation process efficient and orderly.
At 7 o’clock a.m., the orientation officially started. The freshmen and their parents entered into ZUEL at the Shouyi campus with their health codes in an orderly manner. The SBA assigned a volunteer for each freshman. Offering anti-epidemic materials such as hand sanitizer and masks, the SBA made positive efforts in pandemic prevention and control in the orientation site. Moreover, the site was a suitable resting place for students and parents with mineral water, benches and tents. The volunteers were enthusiastic with helping freshmen carry luggage and get dormitory keys, campus card and other important materials, and guiding them to complete registration. They also carefully and patiently answered freshmen’s questions about the environment, overview, major diversion, etc. in ZUEL, helping freshmen quickly fit into campus life.
Every detail conveyed meticulous care. With rigorous, scientific and orderly arrangement, the orientation moved forward steadily. The thoughtful and enthusiastic service provided by the staff and volunteers was also highly praised by the freshmen and their parents.
The day of registration was just the birthday of sisters Sana and Saya Tuolihong from Xinjiang. This year, the two sisters were both admitted to ZUEL with their scores differing by only one point, and Sana was admitted to the Class 2203 of economics and trade in ZUEL. At 11:00 a.m., the two sisters, who were unable to arrive at ZUEL due to the pandemic, participated in the birthday party held by ZUEL for freshmen via video link. They celebrated this special birthday with more than ten birthday freshmen of the Class 2022. They also communicated with Professor Luan Yongyu, the Party Secretary of ZUEL and felt the care from ZUEL in this special way.
At 2:30 p.m., leaders and teachers of the SBA walked into Dormitory No. 33 for boys and Dormitory No. 26 for girls to extend care to the undergraduate freshmen of the Class 2022 from the SBA, and urged the students to study hard, help each other, and better integrate into the new life at ZUEL. Secretary of the Party Committee of the SBA Wang Hualu, Associate Deans Zheng Jiaxi, Fei Xianzheng, Hu Chuan, Wen Hao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Li Fang, Chairs of Departments Shi Junwei, Du Peng, Dong Ciwei, Deng Yuanjian, Wu Yingna, Zhou Lingxu, counselors of the Class 2022 Jing Jing, Liu Zhenxing, Zeng Zirong and teachers of the Youth League Committee of the SBA extended a warm welcome to the undergraduate freshmen of the Class 2022 and their parents, asked about the living of the freshmen, and had a cordial conversation with the freshmen and their parents.
The whole orientation ended at 6:00 p.m. So far, the orientation for the undergraduates of the Class 2022 from the SBA has successfully concluded. In the near future, the SBA will also carry out enrollment education for freshmen around themes such as guidance on majors, safety education, class construction, university history and situation, and mental health. Learning requires experience, and industry requires expertise. We wish the freshmen of the Class 2022 can continue to make progress in their studies at ZUEL and strike out their own.
