On July 2 to 3, 2022, the 17th Chinese AMBA&BGA Business Schools Capacity Building Seminar was held at the School of Business Administration of Zhejiang Gongshang University. Nearly 100 vice presidents, deans, associate deans and program directors of Chinese AMBA&BGA Business schools attended the forum together online and offline. Prof. Wang Zhongming, the director of Zhejiang University’s Global Entrepreneurship Research Center (GERC) and international advisor for China of AMBA&BGA, presided over the forum. Qian Xuefeng, dean of our SBA, Fei Xianzheng, associate dean of SBA, Wu Yingna, the director of the Accreditation Office, and Wan Hua participated in the seminar both online and offline.
Firstly, Prof. Wang introduced how to take the international accreditation capacity building as a driving force to promote the high-quality development of schools, accelerate the development of sample majors and sample courses, enhance the schools’ global business influence, and generate the new ideas of long-term strategies. He also suggested that each school should take responsibility management and sustainable development as strategic factors of the schools’ vision, use them to guide the improvement of each and every degree program and curriculum of all majors, and promote the comprehensive updating of required courses with model courses.
Then, 12 participants made keynote speeches and introduced the development of programs and curriculum in their respective schools, including Chen Yantai, vice president from ZJSU, Zhou Peng, vice President from China University of Petroleum, Yu Rongjian, dean from School of Business Administration of ZJSU, He Wensheng, dean from School of Management of Lanzhou University, Niu Huayong, dean from International Business School of Beijing Foreign Studies University, and Hu Haibo, dean from School of Business Administration of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics.
Qian shared with the participants about the development of ten first-class undergraduate majors, the courses about sustainable development and the Research Center for Female Leadership and Student Career Development. And he hoped that the fellow schools can participate in the establishment of the Wuhan cooperation demonstration base of the International Silk Road Entrepreneurship Education Consortium (SREEN).
Wang Xiaochen from the SBA of ZJSU, Gu Chunmei from School of Economics and Management of Nanchang University, and Yan Huanmin respectively introduced three courses: Green Governance, Sustainable Marketing and Green Economy and Sustainable Development. They shared the design ideas, content modules, teaching achievements and student feedback of their respective courses and introduced good experiences and measures for future development.
Finally, Wang encouraged AMBA&BGA business schools to apply for AMBA&BGA 2022 Global Business School Excellence Award in a bid to summarize the best practices of each school, show the latest progress, plan new capacity building measures and promote internationalization strategies. The participants expressed that they would respond to his valuable advice. High-quality international development is the responsibility and strategic action to implement the new concept of Chinese business education and build a new development pattern.
