Dean Qian Xuefeng, on behalf of the School, first extended congratulations to the 2022 graduates on their successful graduation, and encouraged the representatives of graduates to actively share their feelings and views of learning at the University, so as to jointly improve the management system and the quality of talents of the School. Meanwhile, he put forward three expectations for the graduates: First, they must have the determination to overcome difficulties and not be afraid of hardships. They must build a strong and positive mentality to resist pressure and meet challenges, develop a capacity for dedication, and learn not to be afraid of losing. The second was to grasp the opportunities presented by the time and establish the concept of lifelong learning. Dean Qian analyzed the marked changes in the world unseen in a century from the perspectives of external and internal environment changes, and inspired graduates to implement the new development philosophy of “innovation, coordination, greenness, openness and sharing” in their future work and life. The third was to encourage graduates not to forget their alma mater and come back often, and welcome all students to make suggestions for the development of ZUEL.
Later, the representatives of the graduates spoke successively, expressing their gratitude to the University and their appreciation for the faculty, and giving suggestions for the development of the University and the construction of the School based on their own learning and living experiences. The graduates talked actively about their growth and perception during the University, raised questions on curriculum, training of party members, learning space, utilization of database resources, employment, logistics services, accommodation, transportation and so on, and put forward corresponding suggestions based on realities.
The leaders and faculty of the School carefully listened to the suggestions from students, and responded to the questions. Associate Dean Wu Haitao responded to the questions about the assessment methods, curriculum, database improvement, and academic lectures that were difficult to understand, and wished all graduates a bright future. Some opinions will also be timely fed back to the relevant departments to seek solutions together. Associate Dean Fei Xianzheng responded to the questions such as database improvement and training, and expressed his gratification for the strong scientific research atmosphere of the students. He hoped that all the students could be more excellent and live a better life. Associate Dean Hu Chuan responded to the problems on hardware facilities and curriculum, and indicated that he would sort out and solve the problems raised by the students as soon as possible to make the management of the School and the University more efficient. Professor Shi Junwei, Chair of the Department of Business Management, praised the students for actively providing solutions while raising questions, indicating that the problems existing in the department will be solved, and hoped that graduates could comprehend the motto on the wall of Wenquan Building - What the Great Learning teaches, is to illustrate illustrious virtue; to renovate the people; and to rest in the highest excellence. Professor Dong Ciwei, Chair of the Department of Operation and Supply Chain Management, responded to the question of the training programs and agreed with students’ opinions on adding data analysis to specialized courses, indicating that this work has been put into practice.
Finally, Wang Hualu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, made a summary speech on this symposium. On behalf of the School, Secretary Wang expressed his gratitude to all graduate representatives and faculty members for their active participation and valuable opinions and suggestions. The School will seriously consider the valuable opinions and suggestions put forward by the students and implement relevant improvement measures as soon as possible to further improve the management level and service quality. Then he placed three expectations on the students: The first was to stand firm and to keep in mind that “we have lofty revolutionary ideals”. The second was to be erudite and diligent, and to achieve “true results through the unity of knowledge and action”. The third was to be innovative, and to make “continuous progress with ongoing efforts”.
